Interface guidelines

Agree the interface before information moves

For the early pilot, the interface is a controlled exchange of approved records. The customer identifies the reports and files it can provide, the person authorized to release them and the operating purpose for each field. ExecutionOS is intended to organize that information into an accountable event and corrective-action record. It does not require a connection to the equipment control network.

A source register should identify each supplying system, report name, responsible owner, file format, reporting frequency and intended use. An OEE report describes the period and calculation used by the source. A CMMS export supplies the original work-order reference. Production and quality reports retain their own identifiers and reporting periods. An authorized human entry records who entered it and when.

Review the fields and definitions together

IT and operations should agree the facility, line and asset identifiers; event start and end times; time zone; shift; reason codes; work-order references; and any approved quantities or financial assumptions. Each field needs a definition, expected format and source owner. Document how missing values, duplicates, changed records and inconsistent codes will be reviewed.

A reported downtime interval must not silently become a second event because another file contains the same stop. A revised reason code must not erase the original observation. Original values and source references should remain traceable when a reviewed correction is applied.

Move approved information through a controlled review

The required intake process is: receive the authorized file, place it in restricted staging, validate its structure and identifiers, identify exceptions, preview the proposed changes, obtain the required approval and record the result. Invalid or ambiguous records should enter a review queue rather than silently altering the active dataset.

The deployment review must confirm who can upload, review, approve and export; where temporary files are stored; permitted file types and sizes; applicable scanning controls; and when source uploads are deleted or retained. These are implementation requirements to verify, not claims that every control is already active.

Keep operating information understandable on the screen

An authorized reviewer should be able to trace an event to its source, distinguish observed conditions from suspected and verified causes, and see the prior action, owner, blocker and next review. Financial fields must identify whether they are recorded costs, calculations or projections, with the supporting assumptions and reviewer.

Permissions should separate viewing, editing, assigning, verifying, closing, exporting and administration. Production and maintenance remain responsible for the operating decisions. IT approves the access and data-handling boundaries. Neither an imported status nor a suggested recurrence match should automatically establish that a failure family is resolved.

Establish support and exit responsibilities

Before live information is introduced, agree who investigates failed imports, incorrect mappings, missing records and unauthorized access concerns. Record how issues are escalated and how the customer can obtain an export at the end of the pilot. Define access removal, retention, deletion and confirmation responsibilities in the agreed deployment terms.

The initial scope uses approved entries and files. Additional connectivity is a separate future deployment decision, subject to customer approval and testing.
